Market context
Bitcoin tagged $80,000 for the second time this week and held it, per CryptoPotato's Wednesday market wrap, with Solana ripping to a seven-month high and ether reclaiming $2,500 alongside. The move is not happening in a vacuum. Nvidia beat on earnings and rallied close to 7%, per Crypto.news, dragging AI-adjacent risk higher and giving BTC a macro tailwind that overlapped with the ETF bid.
The ETF picture is the load-bearing piece. CoinDesk's live desk reported $2.8 billion of net inflows into U.S. spot bitcoin funds over eight consecutive sessions, with ether ETFs matching the pace day for day. Three sessions remain in August, and if the tape holds, this will be the strongest inflow month since October 2025. That is not tourist money. It is allocator money going through IBIT, FBTC and their peers on a routine basis, and it changes the character of a rally that started as a short squeeze.
ZyCrypto flagged a 26% weekly surge and pulled quotes from analysts calling it a potential bear-market bottom signal. That framing is aggressive. What we can say from the flow data alone is that dip buyers are getting rewarded, and the funding-driven upside from the initial squeeze has handed off to spot demand routed through regulated wrappers.
Technical setup
Price has done the easy part. It cleared prior resistance in the mid-$70s and printed a clean higher high. The harder part sits directly overhead. Glassnode analysts, cited by CoinTelegraph on Wednesday, describe a convergence of multiple trend lines and liquidity structures right around spot, with $83,000 as the level where a real demand test kicks in. Above that, the order book thickens rather than thins. Below it, the recent breakout base sits near $74,000, and that is the level bulls cannot afford to lose on a daily close.
