Market context
The tape has been doing something unusual: Bitcoin and gold are rallying together. The BTC/gold ratio touched an all-time high of 18. 17 this week, which on its face reads bullish for BTC but on inspection looks more like a defensive bid for anything that isn't a sovereign balance sheet.
That matters for how traders should read the ETF print. The $731 million in net inflows last week, confirmed by CoinTelegraph's wrap and the entity digest, was the largest since January and arrived with BTC chopping between $80,000 and $83,000 rather than breaking out. Professional money is adding on dips, not chasing.
Strive's disclosure on Monday that it bought another 124 BTC for roughly $10 million, lifting its treasury to 43,124 BTC per BitCoinist, fits the same pattern: a corporate buyer scaling in through weakness rather than paying up at highs. H. C.
Wainwright reiterated a buy on Strategy with a $250 price target on Tuesday, per CryptoBriefing, even as that company itself slowed its own purchase cadence. The read: the institutional thesis is intact, but the pace has shifted from accumulation to maintenance.
Technical setup
BTC is pinned to $80,000 as structural support with resistance stacked at $83,000 and then an air pocket up to the mid-$80Ks. The entity digest flags the $80,000 retest as a technical anchor, and the price action confirms it: four closes above that level in the past week, each one tested on the following session. That is a market absorbing supply, not one running.
