Market context
Bitcoin closed last week around $65,500, roughly flat on the seven-day and holding the range it has occupied since the Fed decision. Ether outperformed on Monday, with CryptoBriefing and CoinDesk both flagging ETH leadership as the session's dominant tell. That rotation matters. When ETH/BTC turns up while BTC stalls at range highs, it usually means the marginal risk-on dollar is looking past the majors, not through them.
The backdrop got materially cleaner this week. The Senate's approval of the CLARITY Act, per reporting picked up across the newsflow, gives digital-asset market structure a defined federal framework for the first time. Coinbase followed by rolling out CFTC-regulated nano BTC and ETH perpetual-style futures on its U.S. derivatives exchange, a product CryptoSlate called the arrival of "the multi-trillion-dollar offshore engine" onshore. CME is suing to block it. Grayscale, meanwhile, told clients it thinks the bear market is over.
And yet spot won't move. Bitcoin is up against a wall of good news it can't convert.
Technical setup
Price is coiling between $65,380 support and a $66,500 resistance shelf, per Blockchain.News, with smart-money positioning running 62.9% long into the pinch. That is a heavy long book at a level that hasn't broken. Aggressive buy flow is dominating the tape without translating into a clean higher high, which usually resolves one of two ways: a stop run through $65,000 to shake the longs, or a squeeze through $66,500 that opens a fast move toward the 200 SMA at $72,045.
