Market context
The last 24 hours reset the tone for the whole crypto complex. Bitcoin spot ETFs snapped a three-billion-dollar inflow streak with a $201. 9 million net outflow on Friday, CryptoSlate reported, while ETH, XRP and Solana products kept buying.
That divergence matters for XRP specifically because it's the first session in weeks where the bid rotated away from BTC without alt ETFs flinching. XRP itself sits around $1. 40 heading into the weekend, roughly flat on 24 hours and softer over the past week after a volatile August that CryptoPotato described as a rollercoaster.
The token is up in absolute terms year to date but has given back most of the mid-August squeeze that briefly printed above $1. 60. The nut here: XRP's ETF wrapper is still doing what it was pitched to do, drawing steady institutional dollars, but spot price has stopped responding to it.
Demand and price have temporarily stopped speaking, as AMBCrypto put it.
Technical setup
The chart is textbook range compression. Blockchain. News flags $1.
42 as the 7-day SMA ceiling that XRP has failed to reclaim on a closing basis, with MACD momentum flatlined and taker flow net bearish on perp venues. Support sits at $1. 37, the level that has caught every dip since mid-August.
A clean daily close through $1. 42 opens the path to $1. 66, the August swing high and the last obvious liquidity pool above spot.
