What happened
Anthropic is lining up an initial public offering at a valuation above $2 trillion, CryptoBriefing reported Wednesday morning. The number was described as a target going into the roadshow, not a priced deal. Anthropic has not confirmed the figure publicly, and no S-1 is on the SEC's EDGAR system as of this writing.
The company's most recent private round, closed earlier this year, carried a materially lower mark, which makes the step-up aggressive even by 2026 AI standards. CryptoBriefing's piece, which first surfaced the $2 trillion figure, is the only public source as of Wednesday's European morning session.
Why it matters
A $2 trillion print at IPO would put Anthropic above every listed company bar a short list of mega-caps and reset how private AI labs get marked across the venture book. That has second-order consequences for crypto. The AI-token basket, which includes names like FET, RNDR, TAO and AGIX, has historically re-rated whenever a private AI milestone lands, with the correlation tightest in the 10 trading days after the headline.
The read-through is not that these tokens become Anthropic. It is that the risk premium on "AI exposure" compresses across both public and token wrappers when a benchmark print lands this high. If the number holds through the actual filing, expect allocators who already hold crypto AI tokens as a liquid proxy to add.
If the number slips during book-building, that bid thins.
Market impact
There is no listed Anthropic equity yet, so the first-order impact runs through private secondaries and the OpenAI comp set. For crypto, the signal matters more than the trade. The AI basket closed Tuesday roughly flat on the week after a soft September, with TAO holding its post-halving range and RNDR consolidating under a prior supply shelf.
