What happened
Anthropic completed a 1-for-1,000 reverse stock split of its Class T shares, according to a report published by CryptoBriefing on Sunday, Oct. 26. Under the ratio, every 1,000 outstanding Class T shares convert into a single new Class T share, a mechanic typically used to lift per-share pricing and reduce the raw count of shares on the register.
Class T is Anthropic's non-voting share class, used primarily for employee and early-contributor allocations, which means the split touches the compensation stack rather than the voting classes held by Google, Amazon, and other strategic backers. CryptoBriefing framed the move as a governance cleanup that keeps the Long-Term Benefit Trust's board nomination power intact. The LTBT is Anthropic's independent oversight structure, modeled to give a non-shareholder body a seat at the table on safety and mission questions.
The company has not published a standalone press release at the time of writing, and the reporting is the first public confirmation of the completed action.
Why it matters
Reverse splits on private companies are rare and almost always point in one direction: pre-IPO housekeeping. A clean cap table with a manageable share count makes underwriter conversations easier, simplifies the registration statement, and gives the eventual public float a more conventional per-share price. Anthropic has been one of the two reference points - alongside OpenAI - for how the AI buildout gets financed, and any step that reads as IPO-prep is market-moving signal for the broader AI trade.
For crypto readers, the direct wiring is thin but not zero. AI-adjacent tokens including Fetch. ai's FET, Render's RNDR, Bittensor's TAO, and Worldcoin's WLD have historically responded to AI corporate catalysts, trading as a liquid proxy for the private-market move retail can't touch.
