What happened
Anthropic filed a registration statement with US securities regulators on Monday to list ordinary shares on the Nasdaq Global Select Market, Crypto Briefing reported. The target valuation range tops out near $2 trillion, a figure that would place the company between Meta and Alphabet by market cap on day one. The filing names the Claude product line, enterprise API revenue, and a growing Amazon Web Services partnership as the core of the business.
Underwriters and a pricing window weren't disclosed in the initial write-up. A $2 trillion mark is roughly four times OpenAI's last reported secondary-market price and north of ten times what Anthropic itself was valued at in its most recent private round. The company has raised capital from Amazon, Google, and a long list of sovereign and institutional backers.
None of those existing holders are named as selling shareholders in the Crypto Briefing summary, which usually means the offering is primary capital rather than an insider exit.
Why it matters
A $2 trillion AI listing resets the comp set for every private AI company pitching a round, and that includes the token-funded side of the market. Fetch. ai, Bittensor, Render, and Worldcoin have all leaned on 'public market AI multiples' in investor decks for the past 18 months.
Those decks now have a live, dollar-denominated anchor instead of a borrowed Nvidia multiple. The headline looks bullish. The flow picture is more complicated.
Public AI exposure gets a lot cheaper to own at IPO, and allocators who have been crowding into AI-themed crypto baskets as a proxy may rotate into the direct equity. That's the setup that hit AI tokens in Q1 2024, when the Nvidia run first opened up and FET and RNDR underperformed BTC for six straight weeks.
