What happened
Bitdeer reported it mined 1,355 BTC in September 2026, according to its monthly operations update covered by NewsBTC on Friday. The company tied the production figure to continued hash rate expansion and ongoing commissioning of new ASIC fleets at its North American and Bhutan sites. In the same disclosure, Bitdeer flagged a parallel buildout in data-center capacity targeted at AI and high-performance compute workloads.
The miner has been running this dual-track strategy publicly since early 2025, when it first carved out a reporting line for AI-related infrastructure. September's print lands near the upper end of its recent monthly range and keeps the company inside the top tier of listed miners by output. Bitdeer did not break out blended hash cost per BTC in the headline update.
Why it matters
The number matters because the post-halving block subsidy of 3. 125 BTC per block has squeezed miner unit economics for two years running. A 1,355 BTC month at current spot translates to a nine-figure revenue line for a single operator, but hashprice compression means the margin is thinner than the headline implies.
The AI pivot is the real story. Core Scientific, Hut 8, Iris Energy, and CleanSpark have all pushed into GPU hosting or AI-adjacent colocation this cycle, and Bitdeer's September disclosure places it firmly in that camp. For investors, the question is whether these companies are miners with an AI side hustle or infrastructure operators that happen to run SHA-256.
The accounting treatment, the contract durations, and the counterparty mix on AI deals will decide that over the next few quarters.
