What happened
BiXBiT, a Polish mining software vendor headquartered in Białystok, released new custom firmware for Bitmain's Antminer family on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2026. The company said in its press statement, carried by CryptoPotato on Wednesday, that the firmware delivers hashrate gains of up to 40% over stock Bitmain software, alongside tuning controls and a built-in fleet management layer.
The release targets the S19 and S21 generations that still dominate industrial Bitcoin mining fleets. BiXBiT is pitching it as a single pane of glass for both performance tuning and day-to-day rig oversight, replacing the common setup where operators run one tool for firmware and a separate dashboard for monitoring. The company hasn't published independent benchmark data in the launch materials.
The 40% number is a vendor claim, not a third-party measurement, and the press release frames it as an upper bound rather than a typical result.
Why it matters
Bitcoin mining margins have been under pressure since the April 2024 halving cut block subsidies to 3. 125 BTC. Hashprice, the daily revenue per terahash, has spent most of 2026 oscillating in a band that leaves older S19 Pro units at or below breakeven in regions with power costs above seven cents per kWh.
In that environment, firmware tuning is the cheapest efficiency lever a miner has. New rigs cost thousands per unit and take weeks to deploy. A firmware swap takes minutes and can be rolled back.
