What happened
Fairshake, the crypto-aligned super PAC backed by Coinbase, Ripple, and a16z crypto, said on Sunday it would financially support 32 candidates running for the US House of Representatives in the 2026 midterms. The common thread: every endorsed candidate voted yes on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, better known as the CLARITY Act, when the House passed it in 2025. Cointelegraph first reported the endorsement list on Sunday evening.
Fairshake did not disclose dollar commitments per candidate, but the group has historically front-loaded primary spending to clear fields before general-election ad buys begin. The PAC's 2024 cycle outlay topped $130 million across House and Senate races, making it one of the largest single-issue political vehicles in American federal politics.
Why it matters
CLARITY is the bill the US crypto industry has spent two years lobbying for. It would carve a formal split between the SEC and CFTC on digital asset oversight, give most tokens a path to trade as commodities under CFTC jurisdiction, and codify rules for exchanges and custodians that have operated under enforcement-driven ambiguity since 2022. The House passed CLARITY last year.
The Senate has not. Fairshake's move puts hard money behind the 32 members who voted yes, telegraphing to any undecided House incumbent what the price of a no vote looks like in a primary. It also pressures Senate holdouts by raising the political cost of letting CLARITY die quietly on the calendar.
Market impact
No immediate price reaction is expected. Fairshake endorsements don't move spot markets the way an ETF approval or an exchange halt does. The second-order read is what matters.
