What happened
CryptoBriefing reported on Tuesday morning UTC that Raydium had edged past PumpFun in rolling 24-hour decentralized exchange volume, ending a stretch where the memecoin launchpad dominated Solana's trading surface. The lead was described as narrow rather than decisive, but it is the first clean crossover since PumpFun's PumpSwap venue took the top slot earlier in the cycle. Raydium runs a constant-product AMM alongside a concentrated liquidity (CLMM) book and routes significant volume through aggregators like Jupiter.
PumpFun's throughput is tied to its bonding-curve issuance model, where new tokens trade on an internal curve before migrating to a pool. Neither team had posted a public comment by the time of CryptoBriefing's dispatch, and the figures reflect a single 24-hour window rather than a sustained week-over-week shift.
Why it matters
The Solana DEX leaderboard is a proxy for what retail is actually doing on the chain. For most of 2026, PumpFun's dominance meant Solana flow was heavily skewed toward launchpad speculation on fresh tokens with short lifespans. A flip back to Raydium suggests the mix is rotating.
Traders are putting size through established pools, which is where market makers quote tighter and where SOL, blue-chip Solana assets, and liquid staking tokens actually clear. There is a second-order read for Solana's fee market. Launchpad volume generates a specific MEV and congestion profile.
AMM and CLMM volume generates a different one. If the Raydium lead sticks, validator revenue mix and priority fee patterns shift with it, and so does the economic argument around SOL burn and REV.
