What happened
TRON cleared 1. 10 billion on-chain transactions during the third quarter of 2026, a 33. 7% rise versus Q3 2025, according to a quarterly network report flagged by CryptoBriefing on Tuesday.
The report, which tracks activity across TRON's base layer, points to a widening gap between raw transaction counts and the economic weight those transactions now carry. Stablecoin supply issued on TRON rose over the three-month window, and the dollar value settled through those stablecoins climbed with it. TRON remains the primary rail for Tether's USDT in emerging markets, where cheap fees and sub-second finality continue to pull volume away from Ethereum mainnet and Layer 2s.
The quarterly figure sits above the full-year 2024 pace and keeps TRON on track to post its highest annual throughput since launch.
Why it matters
The 33. 7% year-on-year jump is a reminder that transaction counts and economic value have decoupled across major chains. TRON's quarter was carried by stablecoin flows, not DeFi speculation or NFT churn.
That matters for two reasons. First, it reinforces a thesis that institutional and retail dollar settlement is consolidating on a small number of chains with predictable fees, and TRON is one of them. Second, it keeps pressure on Ethereum and Solana to defend their stablecoin footprints as issuers like Tether and Circle rebalance mint-and-burn volume across networks.
The headline is bullish for TRX fee revenue in the near term. It also sharpens the question of how much of TRON's throughput is genuine new users versus repeat USDT transfers between the same handful of exchange hot wallets.
